Choushoku Ya Cobakaba-Japanese Style Breakfast

I went to Choushoku Ya Cobakaba, which is located in Kamakura. You can go there in about three minutes from Kamakura Station. There were some people already waiting in front of the shop when I arrived. Cobakaba offers some Japanese style set meals that are called teishoku. For example, they have Tamago Kake Gohan (egg on rice) Teishoku, Natto Teishoku, Aji (saurel) Teishoku, Sake (salmon) Teishoku and so on. These are offered for less than 1000 yen. I ate the Saba (mackerel) Teishoku, which is 1250 yen. It was such a delicious and healthy breakfast.

This restaurant isn’t a large space  but it’s calm and has warmth of the wood in the shop. The shop has counter seats and table seats. If you sit at a counter seat, you can see the town of Kamakura while eating the Teishoku. In this shop, it have to get the Teishoku from the counter by yourself and you pay in advance.

If you want to go, I suggest visiting in the morning, because Kamakura is a famous place that is always crowded. Actually, although I went to Kamakura at 9 a.m., there were already people there. But Cobakaba is open from 7 a.m. to 14 p.m. so if you can possibly to go early,  it is better than before it gets crowded.

Coffee ga Samenai Uchi Ni (Before the Coffee Cools Down)

I recently read the fiction and kind of Japanese SF book” Coffee ga Samenai Uchi Ni (Before the Coffee Cools Down)” written by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. This book was published by Sunmark Publishers in 2015 and was nominated for the bookstore grand prize. In this book. If you go to a certain special cafe, you can go back to the past while pouring coffee until it cools down. This book is made up of four stories. One is about lovers, one about a couple, one about sisters, one about parents and children. Each story’s  major characters are Fumiko, Fusagi, Kumi and Kei. They went to the cafe and went back to the past.
 

This cafe has some weird rules. For example, even if you go back to the past, you can’t meet anyone who has visited this cafe, and also there is one seat that can go back to the past, but the seat sometimes already has another guest. You can go back to the past only after the guest goes away and so on. The guests become happy after they go back to the past. When people read this book, they may want to cry.   

This book will be made into a film this September twenty-first. One of the major characters is played by Kasumi Arimura. I’m going to see this movie.
